I think I’m back from my little blogging break that I took over the summer.
Maybe…sorta…kinda sorta.
We’ll see.
What I do know is that my kids are in school, and it’s time to get back to real life. You know, the kind of real life where I stop ignoring the fact that the top of my kitchen table is no longer visible to the human eye or that my shower looks like the set of a horror film.
My home looks more “lived in” than I’d care to admit. And, for some reason, that cute little phrase lost most of its charm when my kids stopped playing with Legos and My Little Ponies on the living room floor.
I’ve reached the stage of life where those two words are just code for “my house is covered in dust and junk that I didn’t deal with when I should have so now it looks like something out of a reality TV show and I don’t even know where to begin to fix it.”
Slightly less cute, but infinitely more accurate.
Okay, so maybe I’m exaggerating just a bit about my house being reality-TV-worthy. It could be much worse than it is. Still, it’s at that point where I don’t feel peace in any room. Not one.
Every place I look, I see dirt and clutter. You might not see it, but I do. And I’m tired of it. Unfortunately, I’m also just plain tired.
Something happens to me at the end of summer each year. It’s like that push-through attitude finally catches up with me, and I crash.
So, I’m sitting here in a quiet house, looking around at the mess and feeling like I’m never going to have the time or energy to get myself and my home whipped into shape. It’s as though those six childless hours each day aren’t enough to accomplish anything. Crazy-talk, huh?
I’ve learned from experience that when I feel overwhelmed by homemaking, I need to do something. I can’t do everything, but I can do something. And one something usually leads to a lot more somethings.
I made up a brand new Daily To Do List {Weekly Plan} for a brand new day. Today is the day to stop making excuses and start making progress.
Sure, I’m still in recovery mode and will need more rest than usual (please tell me I’m not the only one who feels like this at the end of summer!), but this list will tell me exactly what to do before I crash on the sofa with a bowl of ice cream and what to clean up when I peel myself off it an hour later.
Reality, folks. Just a little dose of reality.
Below, you’ll find the printable list I’m going to check off this week. If you’d like printable checklists for every room in the house, plus lots of tips and encouragement for getting your home in order, be sure to subscribe to my free newsletter so you can get a FREE copy of my ebook Clutter-Free Clean. I think I’m going to re-read it myself this week because I clearly need some motivation and inspiration!
